Experience/background: Annual 10-day Congolese Drum & Dance Workshop takes place in late July (July 25-Aug. 3, 2008)
This annual event features internationally renowned master instructors and draws students from throughout the world. Local instructors (Cai Sorlein and others) teach classes Thursdays with a live drumming group at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center.

Experience/background: Instructors are Ann Keeling Friedman and Mary Thompson. Programs include singing, music and movement games and listening and creative responding to music. Follows a well-organized nationally taught curriculum. Weekly sessions are 45minutes for 10 weeks. Ann is a certified level 1 Music Together teacher.

She is currently performing with Yemaya Salsa, a premiere salsa dance team based in Sacramento, as well as starting a Rueda performance team locally. She returned from Cuba in early January and is implementing Cuban style into her salsa dance classes.
